Septet

Clarinet, Bassoon, Horn, Violin, Viola, Cello, and Bass

Written in 2015 while studying and playing Beethoven's septet of the same instrumentation.  The 7 movements are all palindromes in themselves (retrograde), like a mirror image.  The mirror gets a bit distorted and the later 3 movements are  inversions of the first 3 movements (1 & 7, 2 & 6, 3 & 5).  Movement 4 doesn't have a pair, so it has a bit of extra puzzle to it also it's is based off a theme from Minecraft, in addition to other themes from the Septet.

Aquatic Hexagons

Horn and Piano

Aquatic Hexagons (2017) is the first of four pieces inspired by Rivers and Creeks. Specifically inspired by bug shadows on the surface of a creek: Water striders, dragonflies, other, etc.
Intermediate piece for Horn and Piano. Showcasing flexible slurs, long phrases, and a comfortable range for the Horn Player. For the Pianist, mostly uniform underlying rhythmic pa
ttern for lower voicing and trading melody with the Horn part in upper voices.
This duration of the piece is a little over 3 minutes.

Excelsior

Wind Ensemble

Onward and upward.  Knowing that there is progress to be made, and work to be done doesn't need to be something to dread.  Excelsior! Let's do this!

Excelsior for
Wind Ensemble (2020) is briskly 3'15" in duration.  This can vary slightly depending on preference for the slower middle development and solos.   Video and audio link are midi recordings from the score.  This piece is a great opportunity to show off a fast and agile band, with several solo opportunities.  Incorporates a lot of fast smears and glissandi.  small notes are optional.

Arrangements

This is Halloween

Wind Ensemble, Orchestra, Other

"This is Halloween" for combined (or separate) wind ensemble, orchestra, and vocalists.
(also for woodwind ensemble, brass ensemble, or string orchestra.)

This arrangement was written for various beginning and intermediate ensembles in the Philadelphia area, and works well with most instrument combinations.  The rhythms have been simplified, but the frequent key shifts are left in, and serves as a great instructional song on frequently changing keys (without key signature changes).  The vocalist part is fairly close to the original editions available.  the "Tender Lumplings" section has been omitted from this version for time, and general flow.  At the slower suggested tempo, duration is close to 3 minutes.

Walking In The Air

French Horn Ensemble

The iconic story and short film The Snowman's famous walking in the air song.  This arrangement is suitable for intermediate through advanced Horn players.  If suggested tempo is followed this syncs nicely with the video of the same scene. Horn parts 5&6 and 7&8 are together, It is possible to perform as a sextet, it will just be missing a little bit of the lower texture compared to the octet.  duration 4 min 34 seconds.

The Sound of Philadelphia (TSOP)

Chamber Orchestra, featuring French Horn section

This arrangement of The Sound of Philadelphia is full of Horn acrobatics and technical challenges. All other parts are optional, but Bass and Drum parts are recommended.  Work is between 2'12" and 2'26" in duration
Also available in a 4'30" duration, and in different keys.

Theme From "New York, New York"

Brass Trio, Quartet, or Quintet

This arrangement of Theme to "New York New York" was written for Brass trio for a typical cocktail hour. This arrangement also works as a Brass Quartet and Quintet (adding an additional Trumpet, and a Bass Trombone or Tuba). The Trumpets players trade phrases, and all additional players play indicated notes. The melody primarily featured in the Trumpet, but all instruments have important parts, has a Dal Segno and coda.  the piece can be shortened or lengthened by using the DS and Coda.

This is my best selling arrangement on SMP
